Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 teaspoons of oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 teaspoons of oil. Add the diced onion and long green pepper. Sauté until softened, about 4-5 minutes. Stir in the Tex-Mex paste and Southwest spice blend, cooking for 1 minute more. Return the cooked turkey to the skillet and stir to combine. Remove from heat.
  4. Place the flour tortillas on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle the Monterey Jack cheese and Mexican cheese blend evenly over the tortillas. Bake for 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are crispy and golden.
  5. While the tostadas bake, make the pico de gallo: In a small bowl, combine the diced tomato, a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lime (optional). Set aside.
  6. Make the lime crema: In another small bowl, mix the sour cream with a squeeze of lime juice and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  7. Remove the tostadas from the oven. Top each with the turkey and pepper mixture. Add a spoonful of pico de gallo and drizzle with lime crema. Serve immediately.

Recipe Tips

For extra crispiness, bake the tortillas a few minutes longer until they are deep golden brown.

Feel free to substitute ground chicken or beef for the turkey.

If you like heat, add a diced jalapeño to the pepper mixture.

Can I make this recipe vegetarian?
